Like many of you, I am a bit overwhelmed by decorating my mantel. That's why it's been empty for the past two years! I think we feel stressed because it is a focal point of a room so we think it has to be perfect and wow everyone.
Well I'm taking a new approach. I am just going to decorate my mantel with what I like. If you choose objects that you love and arrange them in a way that is pleasing to you, chances are, it will be pleasing to others.
So what do you think? Here's the deal: the whole thing cost less than $40. I got the tulips from Home Beboe (as Jason calls Home Depot) for $5.50 in one pot. I grabbed some potting soil and was in such a rush to throw everything in my car that I forgot the top of those potting soil bags tears off! Oops, looks like I am going to have to vacuum my car again!
Anyway - the little tins were left over from our wedding (they held the rose petals for people to toss). Jason put the chalkboard paint on them and I wrote out "SPRING." I got one of the pitchers from Target for $18 and the rest are from Hub's Place, ranging from $1 to $6. The candle holder was also a Hub's Place find for $1. The money plant was given to me from my amazing friend Brittney many years ago! The picture above the mantel was painted by my mother-in-law (isn't it beautiful?). Finally, I grabbed the scrabble tiles out from our game!
Happy Spring and happy Mantel Mania!
