Bring Your Branches Inside

Who needs to spend money on flowers this time of the year, when there are so many beautiful trees blooming?

Remember these ugly vases I bought from Hub's place a while back?

I know, I know . . . I got a lot of comments from people telling me NOT to paint them, but they just weren't my style.

So after a few fresh coats of spray paint, I thought I'd share with you how I've been using these pitchers around my home.

You might remember that grubby bird I got at Sally Ann's (Salvation Army) too.  In fact, every piece you see on my mantel was either purchased at Hub's Place or the Salvation Army (except the candle -- which I got a Michael's).

Here is the second pitcher.

There it is, reflected through the mirror that we still haven't hung in the guest room for the big re-design.  We've been a little sidetracked, looking at houses, painting our front door black, and turning a closet into an office.

Here's a closer view.

So if your weather is as cooperative as ours has been, get out there and find some beautiful branches to decorate your home this weekend.

  1. Not only am I glad you painted them, you're inspiring me to go get some white spray paint for a few things I have around here. I love the blossoms indoors. This winter lasted forever and it's so cheerful to have flowers inside.

Thanks so much for linking up to Finished for Friday! Have a great weekend.

  15. Your decorating is beautiful. I've been wanting to do the whole spray paint pitcher idea. Did you use a primer first of just regular old white spray paint?

  16. ERIN,

I used two coats of spray paint primer, followed by two coats of white lacquer spray paint. Good luck!

  20. I for one am VERY glad you painted those pitchers - it makes a world of difference! Will go out there and clip some trees tonight, thanks for the idea.

I just bought one of those fans that was reflected in your mirror, so excited! :)

  21. Stephenie,

Your vignettes should be featured in Pottery Barn. I'm not sure I would have painted the cherry pitcher - it's so cottage charming as is - but everything turned out lovely.
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  23. FANTASTIC! If you don't like it, paint it! That's my mantra! Many of my friends shriek when they hear I've replaced mahogany furniture with something chippy and painted --or--even worse painted mahogany furniture! I hope you'll check out my blog!
