Christmas Card Tree

Each day in December, I look forward to getting the mail. It's the one month of the year when I get personalized letters and cards from friends and family.

In today's electronic, fast-paced world, the art of letter-writing is becoming lost.  But the month of December and the spirit of the holidays sends people back to a classic tradition of card-sending that I hope never dies.

I enjoy seeing photos of family and friends and the occasional letter or sticky-note that fills me in on on the year's adventures for each family.

The challenge has always been how to display these beautiful cards in an attractive way.

I could purchase a card display, like this one at Pottery Barn. It's regularly $49.99 but is currently on sale for $36.

But instead, I found this clever idea from Martha Stewart last year and its far less than $36.  All you need are some branches and a vase.



I've considered spray painting the branches white, but I kind of like the rustic feel and besides, I've been avoiding the spray paint fumes while I'm pregnant.

And when Christmas is over, all of the photo cards end up in our photo albums and all of the traditional cards get recycled into beautiful creations to be used next year.  I'll be sharing what we do with them in a future post so stay tuned.

So if you're reading this and you haven't sent me a card yet . . . please don't let me drag my pregnant self down to my mailbox to find it filled with nothing but co-pays from doctor visits! 

Get it in the mail pronto so I can fill my tree.
